Board Chair

Sasha Miller

Allen Capital Group

Sasha is the Director of Tax and Accounting at Allen Capital Group in Grand Island, NE. She began her career in accounting approximately six years ago and has experience in tax preparation and planning, business valuations, and bookkeeping. Sasha is originally from Grand Island where she grew up on a farm north of town. Her hobbies include hunting, fishing, traveling with her husband, and spending time with family. Sasha chooses to support Heartland CASA as a way to be involved within the community and be able to make an impact on the lives of children that are in the court system.

Kerrie Riskowski

Self Employed

Kerrie was born in Bismarck, N.D. but raised in central Nebraska. She has a strong history in healthcare from holding an esthetician license, dental assisting certification and a registered nursing license. Curating creative content from photography to graphics and applying the end result to marketing has always been a passion of hers and lead to the pursuit of social media marketing management. Kerrie enjoys sharing her passion of the equine industry with her two little girls, ages 3 years and 11 years. Kerrie chooses CASA as a non profit to support because of their success placing abused and/or neglected children in permanent homes and supporting these children during a very difficult time of their lives.

Allison Behring

AMGL, PC

Allison is a Senior Accountant at AMGL, PC in Grand Island NE.  She began her career in accounting approximately 13 years ago and has experience is tax preparation, bookkeeping, and auditing.  Allison is originally from Dannebrog where she grew up on a farm.  Her and her husband BJ have a small cow operation.  Her hobbies include traveling and spending time with family and her two dogs Hazel and KC.  Allison chooses to support Heartland CASA through being an active board member to make a positive impact in the Grand Island community.

Lauren Schenck

Grand Island Mental Health and Medical Clinic

Lauren is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) and Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) at Grand Island Mental Health and Medical Clinic. Lauren has experience working with all ages in the long-term care setting, inpatient psychiatric facilities, emergency mental health care, and in private practice mental health. Lauren grew up in the Grand Island area and recently moved back to further her work in the rural mental health field and to become involved in the community! After seeing the impact of children in the child-welfare and court system, Lauren chooses to be an advocate for Heartland CASA to be active in her community and to be an advocate for youth and families in the court and child-welfare system.

Anna Sandall

Wells Fargo Advisors

In her role as a Financial Adviser, Anna provides comprehensive investment planning for individuals and institutions. Originally from Grand Island, Anna completed her Bachelor’s Degree from Hastings College and later earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Ave Maria School of Law in Naples, Florida and a Master of Law (LL.M.) in Taxation from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law. As a former practicing attorney, Anna has seen firsthand the gaps in the court process and its effect on children. But, she has also seen the difference CASA volunteers can make in the life of a child. Anna strongly believes in CASA’s mission to provide a court-appointed special advocate for all children who have experienced abuse or neglect.

Raúl Arcos Hawkins

Multicultural Coalition

Raúl has worked in nonprofits for over a decade and is currently the Executive Director for the Multicultural Coalition of Grand Island. Prior to this, he spent 17 years, 10 of which he held a role in management, in the food service industry. Raúl is an active advocate for people of color, disadvantage, and low to moderate income. Raúl chooses to support Heartland CASA to become more engaged within the community by helping create an impact in the lives of children who have been abused and/or neglected.

Maureen Nickels

Retired

Maureen grew up in the Sandhills of Nebraska on a farm outside of Anselmo. She is a former elementary teacher of 26 years with Grand Island Public Schools and finished out her professional career as an Organizational Specialist for the Nebraska State Education Association for 17 years. Maureen served on the State Board of Education for 8 years representing District 6. Maureen enjoys time with family & friends, gardening, photography and traveling. Maureen chooses to support Heartland CASA as she knows the importance of children who end up in the court system need an advocate who can be their voice.

Jennifer Murray

Mindful Path, LLC

Jennifer Murray has practiced in the Kearney and Grand Island area for nine years as Family Nurse Practitioner since graduating from Creighton University in 2015. Prior to that, she worked as a nurse. While working as a FNP, Jennifer realized that mental health was her area of interest, so she decided to go to the University of Cincinnati to further her education and graduated in 2019 with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree (PMHNP-BC). She is proud to be board certified in Mental Health. In 2021, Jennifer decided to take the leap and open her own practice, Mindful Path LLC, to better serve the community. Jennifer has a love for mental health and truly believes in a nonjudgmental and holistic approach.
